Prior to his passing, Brian talked often about keeping his vision and passion alive. The industry lost a dear friend and wonderful educator. In June of 2007, Brian lost the battle with cancer. High/Middle School, it was a natural for BriLee Music to specialize in choral music for this age level. With his commitment to quality choral music and his keen interest in the Jr.
His 11 years there gave him the knowledge and skills to start BriLee Music Publishing Co. No matter what the topic, listeners always went away from Brian’s sessions encouraged and uplifted, with a new sense of commitment and urgency.Īfter 20 years of teaching, Brian entered the publishing field as Director of Choral Publications for Columbia Pictures Publications, later to become CPP/Belwin and finally Warner Bros. He gave hundreds of clinics, workshops, in-service training sessions and reading sessions in the United States, as well as in Brazil, Australia and Germany. He has also conducted church choirs for 16 years.īrian was a well-respected guest conductor of all-state choirs and district and regional honor choirs. One of his favorite classes was The Boys Changing Voice, a summertime favorite among teachers in the field. At the university he specialized in vocal and elementary methods, conducting and supervision of student teachers. His experiences at this level taught him how difficult it was (and is) to find choral music for the Jr. He had real-time teaching experience at the Junior High. Brian taught public school and university levels for 20 years.
